Mike Love began flying when he was fifteen years old, soloing within days of
his sixteenth birthday. In addition to Multi-Engine, Commercial, Instrument and CFII
ratings Mike holds an Airframe & Powerplant rating, as well. He has worked
as a Flight Instructor for over twenty-five years and takes a great deal of
pride in helping students learn to be safe, knowledgeable pilots.
A former NASA employee, Mike worked on Space Station software development after earning a M.S. Degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University. Mike has also written three aviation books published by McGraw-Hill, topics ranging from how to improve takeoffs and landing to spin training and the training necessary to become a Private or Commercial pilot. Aerobatics captured Mike's interest very early on and he is not only an aerobatic instructor at the Morey Airplane Company, but performs at airshows and participated in aerobatic competitions in the Midwest. Mike is also a strong believer in spin
training for all pilots, believing that knowing how to enter and recover from a spin is the is the best way to never get into one accidentally.
Mike began flying at Morey Airplane company in 1992 and has been a flight instructor there since December, 2004 and has accumulated over 5,000 hours of flight time. Mike is also a charter pilot for Morey Airplane Company and is working toward his ATP certificate. For fun Mike spends his time doing aerobatics and formation flying in his Yak 52!
