DESCRIPTION:Building on more than eighty years of safety driven aviation instruction\, the Morey Airplane Company is expanding our knowledge course offerings. In addition to the private pilot and instrument courses\, we now offer monthly seminars covering topics pertinent to all levels of pilot experience. \nHelicopter pilots are required to “avoid the flow” of fixed wing traffic when operating at uncontrolled airports.  That’s not as simple as it sounds and the pathway to avoiding an accident is grounded in compliance with traffic pattern rules and efficient communications.  This presentation is oriented for both fixed and rotary wing pilots. \nA variation of this presentation will be presented at the FAA’s 2020 International Rotorcraft Safety Conference in Fort Worth\, TX. \nThe presentation format is a guided discussion and participation from the attendees is strongly encouraged \nThe presenter is a retired U.S. Army Aviator who currently serves as a medical helicopter pilot for a regional academic medical center. \nParticipants of this session can earn credit in the FAA WINGS program. \nMore information is available at: https://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=96852

This information can aid in situational awareness\, traffic avoidance\, navigation and obstacle awareness as well as other information. \nThis seminar discusses what and where\, information useful to VFR operations is contained in these publications. TERPS are available free to anyone willing to download them from the FAA or can be purchased from various commercial sources. SUMMARY:Instrument Rating Ground School
DESCRIPTION:The Morey Airplane Company ground school is designed to provide an enjoyable learning experience while covering the subjects necessary to pass the FAA Knowledge Exam for the instrument rating. Lecture time is kept to a minimum to enable maximum participation by attendees in individual and team activity\, accomplishing actual tasks encountered as pilots. \nHeavy emphasis is placed on classroom participation in executing realistic\, practice IFR flights in widely divergent areas of the United States. Participation will be team-based to enhance your learning experience. \nThe instrument course is 13 weeks in duration with 39 classroom hours. All subjects of the knowledge test will be covered\, including: \n\nAerodynamics\nInstrument operation and errors\nRegulations\nHuman factors\nPrinciples of aircraft control under instrument conditions\nWeather and weather reports\nFlight planning\, communications\, approaches\, and avionics\n\nClass will meet every Thursday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and runs from September 19th through December 19th (no class on Thanksgiving day). \nThe cost for the 13 week course is $400 and includes two hours of simulator time\, which is logged by the CFII instructor and counts towards the experience level required for the instrument rating.  Please call the office at (608) 836-1711 to reserve your spot today!
