Following a four-week break\, the Spring term begins Thursday\, March 16 and finishes April 20.  \n \nThe class has two objectives: 1) To help you become a safe and proficient instrument pilot and 2) successfully pass the FAA instrument pilot-airplane written test. Topics covered in the first six-week term will be FAR’s\, advanced human factors\, instrumentation\, attitude Instrument flying\, navigation\, airport operations\, airspace\, and the ATC system. Topics covered in the second six-week term include: IFR charts; en route procedures holding; arrival procedures; approach charts; approach procedures; meteorology\, and IFR flight planning.  \n\n \n\nYou will need to have the following references at the start of class: Jeppesen Instrument Commercial textbook and test guide\, Airman Certification Standards for Instrument Pilot- Airplane\, and The FAR/AIM. SUMMARY:Private Pilot Ground School Spring\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Morey Airplane Company ground school is designed to provide an enjoyable learning experience while covering the subjects necessary to pass the FAA Knowledge Exam for the respective rating. Lecture time is kept to a minimum to enable maximum participation by attendees in individual and team activity\, accomplishing actual tasks encountered as pilots. \nThe emphasis is on safe piloting rather than examination preparation.  Our ground school is a combination of on-line and in-person instruction.  While our instructors do an excellent job covering the required knowledge topics\, they also teach for real-world situations. \nNonetheless\, participants will be examined on all the materials that they will encounter on the knowledge test. Course time is logged as ground school and may be applied to the appropriate rating. Upon proof of passing\, the practice examination attendees will receive an endorsement to take the FAA knowledge test. \nWe strive to maintain coordination between our student’s ground studies and their flight training as well. While the ground school may be taken without stepping into the plane\, our students maximize their training value when paired with flight instruction from us as well. \nThis 12-week\, 24-hour class covers all portions of the FAA knowledge examination\, including regulations\, aerodynamics\, weather\, navigation\, aircraft performance\, flight planning\, communications\, weight\, and balance\, etc. \nOne class will be spent learning pertinent facts about airplane mechanical issues and how the airplanes operate. \nClassroom practice involves actual weight and balance\, navigation\, flight planning issues\, and communications on a typical cross-country flight. These exercises are discussed by the class to share experiences.
